Our cheeky boy
My name is Nicola.В My husband is called Stephen.В We have two children, Jake (7) and Abby (4).В We live in Eastern Ontario, Canada.
This blog centers around our son, Jake, who was diagnosed with autism and developmental delay at the age of 3.В
We’ve had Jake accessed and have been told that he falls in the 99th percentile in development, which means that in a room of 100 children of the same age, 99 of them could out-perform Jake.В This was, of course, hard to take in, but in the 4 years since them, he is a changed little boy.В And although he is still not speaking or even toilet-trained, I feel like his style of communication is blossoming.
And with communication comes learning.
His EA (Educational Assistant) at school is trying him now with an iPad and an app called Proloquo2go.В He seems to be taking to it.В We’ll see.
