I still call Australia home

Recently, I wrote a blog about my visa application progress. (Seen here) It’s been 13 days since sending off the last of my documentation and today the postman rang.

Registered Mail.

” Dear Ms xxxxx,

I refer to your application for a spouse permanent visa 801, which was lodged xx/xx/2004. I am pleased to advise that you, and your dependants listed below, have been granted this visa.”

HOORAY! Finally. It seems like it took forever to get to PR status.  For the first time in 3 years, I can breath a sigh of relief that I will not be unexpectedly removed from my country of residence for whatever reason.
Just 2 more years to citizenship…

p.s. I was slightly scared by the title (as in ‘I still call Australia home, but I didn’t get the visa!), ha ha, but obviously that would have been very strange!

    Hi Christina,

Congratulations on your acceptance and your visa. I must confess you are lucky.
Some individuals who have applied from overseas have to wait for 6 months to see their parters!! I know a friend who got married in India and he put his application, returned to australia waiting for his wife to get her visa and he had to wait 6 months before he could see her again…
Hence, you are lucky and wish you the very best.

Thank you! I am certainly grateful that it all happened fairly quickly for me. I know that there are others who, like your friend, must wait much longer.
