Happy Canada Day!

Today is, of course, Canada Day. Now, in the past (pre-Perth days) I would have brought the kids down to the Lake in Lachine where they could paint, pet the farm animals,  ride ponies, jump in the bouncy castles and stuff their faces with free lunch and lots of cotton candy, popcorn and soda. The afternoon would be spent having a few beers and socializing with all of the other families who’d brought themselves down to the celebration while the kids ran around playing with each other. Music would play all day, LOTS of talking and catching up would be done and to finish it off, fireworks would light the night sky after a concert by April Wine or Jeff Healy. (Or some one else fairly well known.)

This year, I’ve pulled out the Canadian Flag to hang for the day (as I have for the past 3 years). This is about the only concession I can make as no one else here celebrates the national day of another country…LOL But I do miss the social aspect of it. I always saw people at the lake that I only ever saw on Canada Day.

Ah well.. for all you Canadians out there…

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

Happy Canada Day to you too! And to C & C.

“O’Canada, our home and native land…” (That’s me singing, by the way. Quietly, because everyone else is still in bed. I have to go to work…)
