I was in the middle of writing a post last night (a rather good one if I do say so myself
) when the thunderstorm going on outside apparently affected my computer and it powered down.
JUST the tower. Not the monitor or the lights or the kids computer that sits a metre away, ONLY my tower. Grrrr.
Obviously. the storm had nothing to do with it and the problem lies in the tower itself but when I woke this morning, everything was running smoothly and there appeared to be no problem at all. It’s hard to fix something when you can’t see the problem.
It’s like the roof that only leaks when it rains. You can’t fix it unless it’s raining!
Today is a fine day! The first in a while and the sunshine has energized me. I feel ready to tackle anything. There’s only one problem.
The program I use at work is stuffed too…
Talented lil chook..

On the way to work this morning, I noticed a little smoke coming out of my bonnet and quickly checked the temperature gauge. The car was a hairsbreadth away from overheating so I pulled over to the side of the freeway before any major damage could happen.
I called Brian who fought the morning traffic to come to my rescue. From his initial examination, he deduced that one of the hoses had burst.
After having fixed it and replacing the water in the radiator which had steamed away, burst out or otherwise disappeared, we attempted to start the car again. It was still running a little hot but not in the red zone any more.
I pulled back onto the freeway and proceeded one more exit and it began overheating again. Once again, I pulled off, this time onto an exit so I could get away from the traffic and park the car. Brian then had another look in the engine.
I had a look around at the scenery and played with the sepia setting on my camera.
Brian figured out what the problem was but was unable to fix it right there. He’d drop me off at work and I offered to take the train home.
What IS it with me and cars? They always seem to break down, blow a hose or otherwise roll over and die while I’m driving them! The one thing I’m thankful for is that it wasn’t Chloe driving when it happened. She might not have known what to do and kept driving until it quit and some real damage was done. As it is, the radiator needs fixing and the temperature gauge needs adjusting. Not huge but still, an expense we were not anticipating and therefore annoying.
I can’t wait to be driving a brand spanking new car with (hopefully) no defects!
The culprit hose…

And again….

See how impressed I am?

Just in case you haven’t noticed, I added a Flickr badge to the right column of my blog. I can’t describe how difficult it was for me to find HOW to do that!
It started with a Flickr widget that already existed in a pre-made them that contained the designers photos and all I wanted to do was make them mine. This turned into a several-hour-long search for the easiest way to get my own pictures rotating in the sidebar.
It was NOT easy. After many attempts and a small amount of cursing I FINALLY found this site. Within minutes I had my badge, my selected pictures rotating and I had personalized the colour scheme and everything.
With so many sites available, it can be hard to pare down the results to what you really need. Hope this saves someone else from hours of searching!
