Busy weekend….

I’m exhausted.

On Monday.

How is this fair?

The run up to this week has been chock full of busy Mum goodness. It started Thursday with our departments Christmas party. We went on a river cruise for 4 hours and had lots of yummy food and copious amounts of champagne (well, at least I did. I wasn’t counting other peoples drinks…lol)

Getting home that night was somewhat difficult as I was legless. Thank goodness Brian came to get me! I would have wound up in Mandurah had I taken the train home!

Friday, Connor was sick, sick, sick. He’s still recovering from this nasty bug that has had almost all of us in it’s grip. I stayed home and nursed my boy (and my head…lol)

Friday night, Chelsea had her work party AND a sleepover party in Two Rocks.. with boys..Eeek! I drove her up there after her work party (40 mins) then back to Maggy’s for a cuppa (45 mins) before going home to bed.

Saturday was just as busy. I drove BACK up to Two Rocks to get the girls (I was Mum taxi for 3 of them) and spent a little time up there wandering around the beach and taking photos before heading back to drop all the kids off. (3 hour round trip) Just in time to go shopping for supplies to make afternoon tea for Brian’s cricket team and opponents. Then of course, I had to get them to the club. Off again, more pictures and happy, sated, well-fed, men.

By that time I was pooped. Connor and I watched Resident Evil: Extinction before I headed out yet again to Mum taxi the girls home from the movies. They saw Twilight and I plugged my ears an hummed as they discussed the film (I’m not finished the book yet.)

Sunday I cleaned, and did laundry and generally tidied in the morning, then headed to the beach with Maggy for some well deserved relaxation. The water was gorgeous and in 38 degree heat, well needed! We baked a tiny bit under our million layers of sunscreen and called it a day to head back to hers for a drink in the shade

I met Brian back at home and we headed back to the beach with the kids and the dog (I felt guilty for going without the puppy in the afternoon) armed with an esky and fish and chips for dinner. We sat and enjoyed the sun until it dipped below the horizon and then we went home for some desperately needed sleep. Somehow, I got absorbed in Twilight (again) and wound up reading til well past midnight.

No wonder I’m still tired!

New addition to She’ll Be Apples

Just in case you hadn’t noticed, (I know it’s a small thing, don’t complain that I expect miracles) I’ve added a new section to the main menu.

Look up… way up… there it is! Right next to the disclosure policy. 365

One day a while back I was trolling surfing the net and I found a blog with the same category. It was a challenge. Take one picture a day (not just one, but at least one) for a year and post it as a record.

It might not sound too difficult but it’s meant to challenge your imagination as a photographer. Nobody wants 365 pictures of thier dog on display so you need to use that imagination and creativity to think of something interesting to post each day. Different perspectives, composition, lighting and subjects are supposed to give you some insight into what you truly enjoy photgraphing and hone your skills as a photographer.

I’ve decided to take on the challenge and began my 365 journey on December first 2008. I figured at the very least, I’d get through the Christmas season! I might not be able to post them daily (I might to do a weeks worth in once shot) but I will take at least one picture a day and post it to that day.

Please feel free to have a look and comment on them as you do here. Tell me if you like it, hate it or if it’s just.. meh for you. Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Wish me luck!

Letting go…

This is my very first foray into pictures of water drops in motion. I sat outside and used a spray bottle to continuously wet this one leaf (whose colour I liked) It took a fair few shots but this is the result… I’m pretty pleased with it!Originally uploaded by She’ll Be Apples

Just thought I’d share the joy… my joy at finally getting a kick ass photo that I totally did on purpose.

The Rich List

Now that new season has started, Brian and I watch pretty faithfully. We are admitted trivia buffs and have a lot of fun guessing the lists from the comfort of our games room. For those of you that haven’t heard of the show, here is the Chanel 7 blurb.

“The Rich List is an addictive quiz show hosted by the clued-up Andrew O’Keefe. Pairs of strangers use knowledge and strategy to complete lists that can win them limitless amounts of money.

The Rich List throws strangers together to form two teams of two who compete against each other by filling in missing answers on a particular list. Wide-ranging topics could include films directed by Steven Spielberg, hit singles by ABBA or states with a coastline. “

It’s great! I can find out how stupid clueless smart I am with every game. However I have one bone to pick…

The topics!

One night the rich list (final where they win the money) consists of naming the letters in the alphabet used to spell “super-cali-fragilistic-expi-alli-docious” and the next night it’s name the women who won best actress oscars between 1982 - 1997.

What??!?

Why is one so simple that you are virtually guarenteed the top prize and the other a feat in human memory? One is relateable to pretty much any english speaking person on the planet and the other only for movie buffs who actually watch the oscars?

I get the diffferent topics; sports, geography, movies, music etc… they are all somewhat related to common knowledge (some people will do better than others in each catagory) but for the final list?? You’d want to give everyone half a chance wouldn’t you?

I don’t even think it’s the topic that gets me but the date range attached to it. Why only a 15 year span?

I know that if I ever got on the show and got to the final list and they said ‘Name 15 French open winners between the years 1960 - 1975 I’d be like…

Are you kidding?

So.. Rich list people…. Are you kidding?

Yesterday while doing the grocery shopping, I suckered succeeded in convincing my daughter into cooking dinner for the next week. It went like this…

Me: So… you cooking dinner tonight?

Chelsea: Awww… (Typical teenage moan of “do I have to?”)

Me: Oh.. so I’M expected to put dinner on the table for 6 every night even though I work full time and chaufeur kids around and clean and…. (Fill in typical Mum moan here.)

Chelsea: It’s not THAT hard to cook dinner!

Me: *Evil glint in my eye as a plan blooms into fruition* You couldn’t handle cooking for 6 for ONE WEEK!

Chelsea: Yes I could! I will! I’ll make out a dinner plan for a week and if you buy the ingredients, I’ll cook every night!

Me: *internal self high-five* Fine! You do that and I’ll buy the groceries.

Chelsea: Fine!

Dance puppet, dance! Mwahahahahaha!

Last night we had meat pie, vegetables and pasta side dish….tonight, swedish meatballs and mash!
