Stephen’s Weblog: A Brit living a tad reluctantly in Canada.

About Me

Hi. Just a few words about me.

My name is Stephen and I’m married to Nicola. We have two young children, Jake and Abby and I have four children from my first marriage. Hannah, Sarah, Ruth and Thomas. I’ve been very blessed if also a little busy.

Nicola is Canadian and I met her online via a chat program called ICQ in the fall of 1999. To cut a long story short we ended up together a year later when she moved over to England, got married in 2001 and then in september of 2004 we moved over to Canada and settled in eastern Ontario.

As I write this we’ve been here nearly three years and gradually I feel a little more settled but it’s been a long haul. I was in my early forties when we moved and I underestimated just how much living in a different country would effect me. Culture shock is what they call it and I guess it’s what I had. My blog in the title describes me as living here a tad reluctantly and that’s how I feel. I don’t imagine ever seeing Canada as completely home because England will always be that for me. But my life is still good here and I’m thankful for that.

My blog will vary in it’s topics across a broad spectrum of subjects. I always like to keep myself updated with the latest in news nationally and internationally and my interests also lay in computers and technology along with sport (Formula One, Soccer, Cricket) and movies. I have a great interest in history and love to watch historical documentaries.
